Marissa Alexander: Banned from Justice

After recieving relentless abuse from the man who claimed to "love" her. Marissa Alexander finally had enough. Marissa, 33, is charged with 3 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon -- because she fired a warning shot in the direction of the abusive animal. She fired a bullet into the wall, to prevent him from furthur abusing her. Although nobody was injured, she, was still sentenced to a mandatory 20 years in PRISON. She remains in jail, while her abusive husband is free -- and probably cheating on her with another woman he's soon to abuse.

This is yet another example of the racist, misogynist legal system in the United States. Why are racism and sexism legal? Why is it okay for every minority (with the exclusion of blacks) to abuse the system? Why is it okay, for a man to unjustly assume power over a woman? The legal system has aided these CRIMINIALS in the crimes they commit, by allowing them to be set free.

1. George Zimmerman (Shot a 17 year-old black boy, based on his racial profile. Set free)
2. Stacey Rambold (Rapes female student, spends ONE month in jail. Set free. [victim commits suicide.])
3. Julio Morales (Raped an unmarried woman, sentenced to 3 years n prison. Set free.)

These are only a few examples of what I have as evidence of a racist, misogynistic legal system, of which is abused and manipulated to strike fear into the hearts and minds of women and blacks, that they'd better keep their distance, or they're bound to be abused. I'm black, and female; so where does that leave me? This is my reason to riot, to protest. Why should we sit idly by, whle our freedoms and liberties are being chipped away at like coal?

But preventative measures right? While the law protects all other citizens, it is strictly our responsibility to protect ourselves and each other, to protect ourselves while people are coming after us with fire and torches... Legally. She had a permit, and she took the necessary classes to obtain her weapon. Even though women are SEVERELY disadvantaged by the system, it is often passed of because hey, "That's just the system". These are the things that we're supposed to accept as justice. The justice that hates us. The message that the "law" gives to Marissa? Don't stand your ground.

The same people who are being made aware of these issues, are the same ones that tell us "stop playing the victim", "you just want sypmathy". So we leave our position on those issues behind. We toughen up, and in defending ourselves, we are deemed violent criminals who don't deserve human rights. Why is Marissa behind bars? Because she took preventitive measures to protect herself, and stood her ground. Justice right? But what for? What is the purpose of this abuse? For you to excerise your power? We understand that you have it.

Make them hear us. Marissa's next trial is scheduled for January 15th. Upload photos in support of Marissa to your social media. Make videos. Make pictures. Write blogs. Post podcasts. I know what happened at Sandy Hook is a horrible tragedy , all those lost lives . Every day in the U.S . 10 womyn are killed by their husbands or boyfriends . Even if I use the F.B.I.'s statistics they say 4 womyn every day are killed . Why is it that we don't get upset about this ? Is it because children are innocent and womyn are not ? In our society we blame the victim ( womyn ) for her murder . Something is terribly wrong with this picture ! Please lets place the blame where it belongs on the patriarchal violent society we live in . Womyn and children are collateral damage for the male privileged world that we live in . Until that changes we can keep expecting more of the same in the future . Think about it and then let's do something . Innocent lives are counting on it .     

I'm so pissed ! The last time I was offered $100 for a performance ! What an insult ! Today someone topped that and wanted a FREE performance !!!!! That's just discusting ! This is how I make my living folks ! It's not a HOBBY ! You really should be too ashamed to even ask me .

I've been really depressed and the only thing besides my partner that gives me hope is writing my book . I have so much in my head about violence in every form against womyn it just pours out . Woke up this morning to this " FAN " e-mail . As Sonja Johnson , one of my favorite authors said ;

Hello Ms. Hulse,

I just thought I would send you a message regarding your seemingly
immoral values, and outline a few issues I have relating to your use
of hatred under the false pretense of "educating" equality.

First, as a career person in the entertainment industry, I find your
description of yourself as a "performance artist" insulting to the
true performance artists out there.

Second, I find it ironic that in your demo video for the ONLY
production you've done advocating against violence, you use the
(awesome) song of a woman who MURDERED her husband (who was far more
successful in the same industry as her) due to a failing marriage and
for the purpose of utilizing his (superior) intellectual property.

Third, I find it rather disgusting that in your "educational"
production, you imply that domestic violence solely entails a man
being violent against a woman, yet in reality there are FAR more cases
of domestic violence by women against men (physical and emotional),
yet they do not garner as much attention due to what is perceived as
socially acceptable.

Fourth, targeting your inaccurate "production" towards young
impressionable adults is rather deplorable.

Fifth, implying that normal innocent human acts which both men and
women commit are variations of "rape" which only women suffer is
absolutely ridiculous and immoral.

Sixth, your oppression against men, particularly by brainwashing young
budding men into feeling they are inferior, resulting in lifelong
depression, through deceptive alterations of what actually happens in
this world, and of history itself is deplorable and immoral.

Seventh, including a link to Valerie Solanas' psychotically genocidal
work of hate literature the S.C.U.M. Manifesto is ludicrous and only
serves to emphasize that while you function under the guise of
advocating equality, you are nothing more than a hateful extreme
feminist with an agenda.

Eighth, I just checked Merriam Webster, there is no such word as
"womyn" (p.s. since you're probably thinking at this point I'm just a
dumb male, let me spell it out for you: as you may have noticed my
grammar and spelling - unlike yours - is immaculate, which is the
result of a lifetime of reading, yes, that's right, I read - among a
very long list of other hobbies I partake in that would boggle your
extremely narrow mind - to elaborate, it was a wry joke relating to
your lack of respect for both genders).

Just to cover my "woman oppressing" proverbial ass, you do have
permission to quote me wherever you may feel the desire to do so, but
you ONLY have permission to do so on the condition that you quote this

A MALE FAN

Okay , so yesterday I received an offer of $100 for my educational performance ! I really shouldn't be surprised , because this happens a lot . I charge $1800 plus travel and one nights lodging . So you can see where I'm coming from on the INSULT scale ! I know the economy is bad , but I haven't changed my fee in over 10 yrs. I also know that MEN doing the same work that I do have no trouble getting the fee they ask for . Their fee's can range from $2500 to $5000 . Some even make more . It's the in thing today to have MEN educate on violence against WOMYN . It doesn't upset the MALE students as much as a WOMYN like me does . POOR BOYS . We MUST not upset them . I on the other hand think we need to make them RESPONSIBLE for the ABUSE and RAPE that their MALE colleagues continue to do ! Some people think I do this work as a HOBBY , or JUST TO PASS THE TIME ! Please , I tell them , this is how I make MY LIVING . They are always surprised when I say that . So , AGAINST ALL( and I mean ALL ) odds I will continue MY LIFE'S WORK until the day that I DIE !!!

Last night I attended a birthday dinner for one of my granddaughters . It was really special . I gave her a copy of " A Room of One's Own " by Virginia Woolf . I'm always so afraid to share womyn author's with them , because of my MILITANT FEMINIST beliefs . Virginia was somewhat radical for her time , but definitely a safe place to start sharing my LOVE and RESPECT for STRONG , OUTSPOKEN womyn authors . I think it's really important to EDUCATE girls and womyn to the realities they will face even in today's society , so when they feel DEPRESSED and SUPPRESSED they won't think there's something HORRIBLY wrong with them . They won't RUSH too THERAPY  and PROZAC . They will unfortunately know that society is still not a WARM and FUZZY place for WOMYN .  Three cheers for STRONG WOMYN !!!

Every day I struggle with WHO I AM , and WHO I THINK I SHOULD BE . The struggle sometimes becomes UNBEARABLE , and I search for comfort . I find most of my solace in reading Andrea Dworkin . Her writings give me HOPE and STRENGTH to keep going . I am a MILITANT FEMINIST , but society wants me to STOP that CRAZINESS and be the MOTHER and GRANDMOTHER that I'm suppose to be . Being who I am in this world is CRAZY , so they tell me . I think I feel CRAZY , because I'm not allowed to be who I TRULY am . I've been told on and off in my adult life to THROW THOSE BOOKS AWAY , that's whats making you UNHAPPY . I will NEVER do that . I'd rather DIE . Andrea Dworkin , Valerie Solanas , Mary Daly , Phyllis Chesler and Sonja Johnson just to name a few of my FAVORITE authors keep me ALIVE . If that's CRAZY then I'm truly OUT OF MY MIND , and LOVING every minute .

Before I get back to how I became a MILITANT FEMINIST , I need to SOUND - OFF about the BACKLASH ! I'm so SICK and TIRED of FALSE STATISTICS that say womyn abuse at the same rate as men . NOT true ! Please be careful and research well before you state these statistics , and as a result KILL a lot of WOMYN ! Don't you know that this is a part of the BACKLASH against FEMINISM ? MEN are loving this WAR between the SECOND and THIRD wave FEMINISTS .
This gives MALE ABUSERS another reason NOT to take RESPONSIBILITY for their BEHAVIOR . I'm so sick of THIRD WAVE feminists telling me that I'm SEXIST , because I blame MEN for the ABUSE . I do blame them !!! They have been doing it for centuries , and will GLADLY continue with the BLESSING of the THIRD WAVE . When I woke-up this morning I said to myself , as I often do : WHY DO I CONTINUE TO FIGHT THIS WAR AGAINST WOMYN ? I really don't have a CHOICE , this is what I'm on this earth to do . I will continue until I draw my last breath , as long as these LIES continue to be told . As Andrea Dworkin stated in one of her WONDERFUL books , that she would keep fighting for WOMYN no matter what the cost was to her personally . I feel exactly the same . I am a WOMYNS ADVOCATE clearly , at ANY COST !!!

I'm still on that detour , and still RANTING . What has happened to all the WOMYN that are really concerned about the VIOLENCE that is perpetrated against them ? I can't find any , can you ? I continue daily to e-mail colleges , so I can come in and REALLY educate on this violence  with no response . I target colleges especially when they've had a publicized RAPE or MURDER on campus . You would think they would want me to educate , but no , they want to keep it QUITE ! HUSH it up like it never happened . Let's face it , they don't want to lose students , or future students . I myself would want my son or daughter to go to a college that openly addresses and educates ( real education , no sugar coating ) on this EPEDEMIC of VIOLENCE against WOMYN . Don't bother checking the crime statistics on campus , because they ALL lie . If you see one sexual assault for that year , know that you need to multiply that by at least 10 to get close to the real number of assaults . In my 18 yrs. of touring with over 400 shows , only one college in Louisiana was doing a GREAT job of protecting FEMALE students . That's pretty sad , don't you think ? Silence is the biggest KILLER of WOMYN ! When will you get that through your heads ! 1 in 4 college womyn will be RAPED by the time they graduate .  10 WOMYN every day are KILLED by their abusive partners , and some of them happen on college campuses .  WAKE UP !!! If we don't LEARN from history it will repeat itself , over and over again . We haven't learned because the statistics haven't change , and in some instances they are WORSE . WOMYN wake up from your male induced COMA'S , and start SCREAMING until the violence STOPS !

I'm taking a detour from my road to MILITANT FEMINISM , and RANTING about the state of Women's Studies today . I spend every day e-mailing for work in colleges and universities in the U.S.  There has been a DANGEROUS trend in the past few years . MEN are the DIRECTORS of
more than a few Women's Studies programs . Is anyone else as FUCKING MAD as I am . Men can NOT DIRECT Women's Studies . They have a PENIS , which AUTOMATICALLY gives them POWER ! Womyn on the other hand can understand both MALE power and FEMALES lack of that POWER . They have lived  "UNDER " that power for centuries . I'd like to know what's in that DICK
that makes MEN so POWERFUL . MALE power has been literally shoved down my throat for way too many years . MEN already have power over everything else in this world , so PLEASE stop them from taking over what never has been , and never will be theirs ; POWER OVER WOMYN ! They will NEVER stop taking it if we keep letting them .  Let's do MORE than TAKE BACK THE NIGHT , and TAKE BACK OUR LIVES !!!

Freedom for Womyn comes at a cost . A year or so before my divorce I got sober ! The only way I could have stayed in that marriage was to be DRUNK most , if not all of the time .  Right after I got sober I remember looking at my husband and saying ; WHO ARE YOU ? He replied ; WHO ARE YOU ? Your not the GIRL I married ! I said , THANK GOD FOR THAT ! Some of the people closest to me that hated him when I was married ,  when I got divorced I suddenly became the BAD ONE . My own mother who encouraged me to get rid of him , suddenly changed her mind when I did . So , there I was divorced with 3 children  . Because I was attractive my so-called female friends , especially if they were married , wanted nothing to do with me . I was a THREAT ! Please , I just got rid of one JERK , why would I want yours ? The men I knew thought I was EASY and HOT TO TROT . They would show up on my door step , one after the other with flowers and candy , not because they were concerned and wanted to be my friend , they just wanted to GET IN MY PANTS !!! FINALLY , after months of PUSHING them AWAY , they finally got the message  that I wasn't PLAYING their GAME .  Then they turned around and called me a BITCH , because I wouldn't FUCK them . That's some of the WARM and FUZZY things that happen when a WOMYN gets DIVORCED .

How did I get started on the JOURNEY to become who I am today . It began several years ago when I was searching for my place within my marriage . My husband at the time , who didn't think I read enough , gave me the book entitled " The Feminine Mystique " . It was published in 1962 . If you haven't read it , you need to now , because we as a society are back in the late 50's and early 60's in regards to the role of WOMYN  . This book was the BEGINNING OF THE END for my husband , and the BEGINNING OF A NEW LIFE FOR ME . All the years before this book I thought there was something WRONG with me , because I couldn't ADJUST to MARRIED life .  I was DEPRESSED and uncomfortable . I just wasn't FUNCTIONING like a GOOD wife should . My husband told me how to dress ,and picked out ALL my clothes . He chose EVERYTHING , right down to the perfume I wore . He corrected my english , and even corrected the letters I wrote with a RED pen . He would often say to me ; " YOU'RE NOT STUPID , YOU'RE UNDEREDUCATED " !!! Needless to say after reading that WONDERFUL , EYE OPENING book , HE was HISTORY , and I WAS FREE !

Now that I'm finished commenting on the Womynkind Principles that I live by , I want to share my life on the road touring with my shows . I've have been touring for 18 yrs. and it has been WONDERFUL and HORRIBLE , and everywhere in between . People say that it must be EXCITING and so REWARDING to tour and do the work that you do . I just smile , and think if they only really knew what it was really like most of the time they wouldn't say that . Don't they know I'm the ENEMY ? I'm the ONE who gets up on the stage , and tells the TRUTH about VIOLENCE against WOMYN , uncensored , no sugar coating here . I hope by reading my daily posts you will think differently about this issue , and what it takes for a WOMYN TO SPEAK THE TRUTH .

# 7 . VIOLENCE takes many forms , and has many reasons for existence . The same factors that contribute to the high murder rate in the inner city ARE NOT the same factors that allow MEN to pathologically torture , maim and kill Womyn . The only common denominator contained in the issues of violence , war or abuse is that it is an act of power and control ( overwhelmingly ) engaged in by MEN . The only thing abused Womyn have in common is their gender . Womynkind does not advocate random violence , however it does recognize the difference between MURDER and SELF - DEFENCE . Womynkind reserves the right , and encourages womyn to defend their lives by what ever means necessary . Womynkind also recognizes that the best defence my be a strong offence . We exclusively blame MEN for the introduction of violence into this issue  , and thus demand that they take the responsibility to STOP THE VIOLENCE ( before it stops you ) .

My Comment ;  We've been told thru the media that the murder rate in the U.S. has declined in the past few years , but that's only partially true . The murder rate for DOMESTIC VIOLENCE has remained the same , or increased in some areas  . Murders of people other then intimate partners has decreased . BELIEVE IT . ITS the TRUTH ! Why , you may ask have DOMESTIC VIOLENCE MURDERS statistics not improved ? The answer is simple ; MEN don't want it to STOP . If they did , and really took action , it would be a thing of the past . ALL men benefit from all forms of VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMYN .  YES , they benefit from keeping WOMYN in line . We will continue to have violence against womyn in all its UGLY forms , if we naievely think MEN will stop on their own . If that were the case , it would have ceased by now . We have allowed MEN for the past 20 yrs. to TAKE OVER the WOMYNS MOVEMENT .  So , has the violence STOPPED , or at least decreased ? NO ! It's getting WORSE .   I believe we need to TAKE BACK the WOMYNS movement by whatever means  necessary ( emphases on WHATEVER ) , and use REAL solutions to stop MEN from BEATING , RAPING and MURDERING WOMYN .

# 6 . TRUE EQUALITY is Womynkind's ultimate goal . As it is not dignified for a man to beat dumb animals , Womynkind in that spirit does not wish to dominate men . True equality however is as far away as the distance between truth and lies . Womynkind sees it simplistic to call the goal of " equal
pay for equal work " valuable , when that work is degrading , exploitative  , or damages the environment . Violence against Womyn continues to be a gender issue . MEN beat WOMYN , and until MEN stop it , peace between us cannot exist . The role of men in Womynkind is to actively STOP thier brothers in " womyn slaughter " . Men do not however , have an equal say in deciding or granting Womyn their " rights " ( rights are not theirs to grant ) , or in setting the agenda by which womyn act to defend their rights .

My Comment ; The TRUTH is MEN have the POWER to BEAT , RAPE , and KILL womyn without REAL consequences . He will either get a SLAP on the wrist for BEATING her , a minimal , if any jail time for RAPE , and average of 5-7 yr. sentence for KILLING her . On the other hand , if a womyn KILLS her ABUSER she receives an average sentence of 20 yrs. to LIFE . The LIE being that MEN really care about womyn's welfare . That's one reason why there are 1,600 BATTERED womyn's shelters , compared to 4,000 Animal shelters . Where are MEN'S priorities ?  If  a MAN beats a WOMYN she should KILL HIM ! It wouldn't take very many KILLS to CHANGE MEN'S
minds ( smaller case minds on purpose ) .  Then MEN might LISTEN a little better to what WOMYN have to say .  In my college philosophy class , where I did my first performance on violence against womyn , I asked one of the guys this question ; If I asked you to share your power with me would you ? Of course not , he replied . If I held a gun to your head and said , Give me some of your power , would you ? YES , he said , of course I would !  Think about it WOMYN , and then DO SOMETHING !

# 5 . FAMILY VALUES - The destruction of the traditional family is a GOOD thing . The current propaganda that tries to place the responsibility for an immoral society on Feminists ideas is a LIE . In its relationship to Womyn , society has never been moral . The " nuclear family " blew up on it's own accord . The suffering that womyn and children are experiencing in modern society is the result of MANS ever increasingly cruel and desperate attempt to re-enslave their " property " , which revolted after centuries of inhumane treatment . Alternative relationships and "families " should be encouraged at every opportunity . Traditional ideas of marriage and gender roles should be discouraged , ridiculed and undermined . Although Womyn should be encouraged to make their own " choices " , this does not imply that ALL choices Womyn make within the MALE system help to promote the cause of freedom for all womyn .

My Comment ; The only thing that Feminists are guilty of in regards to marriage is giving womyn a
CHOICE . GOD FORBID that womyn have REAL choices . But let me tell you that if you don't choose MARRIAGE and MOTHERHOOD you are in for a bumpy ride . Still today , maybe even more so , no matter what you accomplish in your life , if you're not a wife and mother YOU ARE next to NOTHING .  They still today use such terms for " unmarried " womyn as SPINSTER , OLD MAID , UNDESIRABLE , and " NOT GOOD MARRIAGE MATERIAL " . If you CHOOSE to live with someone , instead of getting married , you are SHACKING - UP . If you have children  without marriage , you are an UN - WED mother and a SLUT ! Your child is called ILLEGITIMATE , and a BASTARD ! Tell me it's not a MANS world . If it wasn't , no WOMYN would stand for this kind of treatment . I've tried BOTH , marriage and living with my partner . I definitely prefer the latter . That piece of paper CHANGES everything . When you sign that certificate you hand over your POWER . I now have grandchildren . In a conversation with my FIRST granddaughter about MEN and MARRIAGE I said , men have ONE brain cell and they all SHARE it , and when you are older I'll tell you where it is , and that marriage is for MEN . AAH!!! WISDOM ! PASS IT ON !

# 4 . THE SYSTEM , the church , and all other " institutions " who have a history of abuse and repression of Womyn will not be supported . Although some minor changes MIGHT be made through the present political / justice system , ultimately it is impossible for long term gains to be made within a corrupt system . Placing Womyn in this SICK system has proven to only corrupt them and the cause .

My Comment ;  Let's FACE IT , the system and all it's many components are CONTROLLED by a small percentage of RICH WHITE MEN , that have NO interest in Granting womyn true EQUALITY . Every once and awhile they pretend to accept a few womyn into their inner circle , and then proceed to DESTROY them . Think of Hilary Clinton , and Sarah Palin . Hilary was DEMONIZED , while Sarah was SEXUALIZED . Neither one of them had a REAL chance at the office of VP ,  when the SYSTEM ( male ) was done with them . If  MEN  truly wanted WOMYN to be EQUAL in every way , the present SYSTEM would need to be TOTALLY DESTROYED . Torn down and rebuilt by WOMYN . A few of my WISHES for a NEW system would be ; NO MORE TIT BARS ,  PORN ,  PROSTITUTION , HUMAN TRAFFICKING , RAPE or any other ABUSE of WOMYN ! Womyn would get paid their WORTH in every job they chose . They would get PAID for BEING a WIFE ( extra pay ) , and MOTHER (extra , extra pay )   . MEN would actually HAVE to do an EQUAL amount of WORK in the HOME , without COMPLAINING .   PERPETRATOR'S , PIMPS , JOHN'S and PORNOGRAPHERS would be HELD accountable for their CRIMES and NOT the VICTIMS ! This is MY fantasy , but it REALLY could be REALITY if WOMYN ( okay , together with a  few GOOD men , MAYBE ) RULED THE WORLD ! Think about it .

# 3 . ABORTION - is a Womyn's right ! Not only is this an inalienable right , it is an issue that men have NO say in . Womynkind will protect this right at all costs and view those with " alternative " points of view as ignorant , fanatical , and dangerous . Womynkind will suppress and counter anti-abortion propaganda when ever it meets it , and promote , in turn , modern self - abortion techniques that strip away the remaining power that an exploitative MALE dominated medical profession still holds over womyn's lives .

My Comment ; I REFUSE to discuss in any detail a WOMYN'S RIGHT to abortion . This is 2012 and we're going to LOSE that right . We already are , no matter who gets elected ! My only suggestion is to TRAIN WOMYN to give FREE , SAFE abortions . And to the MEN ; " KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY GLANDS " !!!
